MOBA
If you wanted to play a MOBA and don’t know with which game you should start I will try to give you an overview about the 2 biggest MOBAs. A MOBA is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena where you have to choose between 3 lanes or jungle with the goal to destroy the enemy Base.
Firstly, I am going to explain you League of Legends. League is the most popular MOBA with over 100 million players. It is the easiest of all MOBAs and the friendliest game to new players with a tutorial for the basics and an overview over all 140 Champions including Item builds and play styles. You have 7 Classes: Controller/Supporter, Fighter, Mage, Marksman, Slayer/Assassin, Tanks and Specialist. Supporters assist their allies with potent utility and keep enemies at bay with crowd control. Fighters are a diverse group of short-ranged combatants who excel at both dealing and surviving through damage. Mages are champions who typically poses great reach, ability-based aoe (area of effect) damage and crown control, and who use all of the strengths in tandem with each other to trap and destroy enemies from distance. Marksmen are ranged champions whose power almost exclusively revolves around their basic attacks. Assassins are highly mobile champions specializing in single-target burst damage. Tanks are tough melee, who sacrifice damage in exchange for powerful crowd control. Specialists are a diverse group of champions who do not “fit into a neat little box” in regard to other class specifications.
Now I am going to explain Dota 2. Dota 2 is the second most popular MOBA. It is a bit harder than League of Legends. It is also way harder to learn the game compared to League because the tutorial is not good enough and shows you a side of Dota 2 which doesn’t exist. The Community is as it is in League, toxic and not friendly to new players. If you play bad your Teammates will make it obvious and most of the time they will even insult you. In Dota 2 the majority are Russians, which probably won’t even bother you because you don’t understand them. Same with League just with bad, I mean very bad, English. The classes are the same just that everyone is a Specialist. There are classes, but they don’t play the same. For example, all assassins have a different playstyle. There are scout Assassins, flank Assassins and burst Assassins. Same for all the other classes. You have to destroy the enemy base like in each other MOBA's to win the game.
Over all, League of Legends is for beginners and Dota 2 is for players who already have experience with MOBAs. League is also easier to learn but the game will get boring, it will be always the same because of the meta. You can’t play what you want because syou will put yourself in a big disadvantage and you will be the reason why your team lost. In Dota 2 you can play whatever you want because the game offers different play styles with each hero, which brings variety into the game. You can play mods if you are bored of the regular game mod and even create a mod yourself. Dota 2 is the only MOBA with this option.
